The first coolest feature that I found in One UI 4.0 based on Android 12 is the Color Palette feature. This is a new feature from Android 12 which is directly implemented in the latest update of One UI 4.0.
With this Color Palette feature, you can immediately change all color themes on the “One UI” system according to the color of the wallpaper that you are currently using. So you can immediately change the theme of your entire One UI system quickly with this “Color Palette” feature.
You can also change the application icon that you use with the Color Palette color that you choose. And now in addition to the color of the entire One UI theme, the color of the system icons on your phone will also be changed based on the Color Palette theme that you choose.
The color of the folder on the Home screen and also in the App Drawer will also be changed in accordance with the Color Palette theme that you chose earlier.
2. Camera & Microphone Indicators – One UI 4.0
Then the second cool feature in One UI 4.0 is the camera and microphone indicator in the upper right corner of your smartphone screen. This is a new security feature from the latest update of Android 12. So when an application is accessing the camera on your smartphone, there will be a green light indicator on the top right corner.
In addition to the camera, this indicator will also appear if there is an application that are accessing the microphone.
This security feature is very important to let you know which apps are accessing your microphone and camera. So you can make sure that the camera and microphone access on your phone is not being used by unwanted applications.

Then on the latest One UI 4.0 update, it also comes with a new widget design with a more matching and unified design. So the widgets will look more aesthetic with the same shape in all of the widgets.

And now the Pop Up display will immediately appear with permanent options without minimizing like before. This is one of the added features in One UI 4.0 that is very useful for daily usage .
5. Improved Camera Features – One UI 4.0
Then the fifth cool feature in One UI 4.0 is that you can directly record videos from photo mode in this latest update. When opening the photo mode in the camera app, you can press and hold the shutter button for a while and you can immediately enter to video mode.

Then the record video button One UI 4.0 update will also immediately record when you press the button even before releasing your thumb. So the recording will begin immediately and faster than before. Previously, the new recording will start when you release your thumb from the button.
This update can be very useful to make sure you don’t miss a moment when you want to record a video. And you can also make sure that the video recording will start immediately, when you put your finger on the button.
6. Light Balance – One UI 4.0
Then the sixth feature is the “Light Balance” feature. You can find this “Light Balance” feature when you edit a photo from the gallery. You will find a new option in the color tone settings in the photo editor. When you press on this tone icon or on an icon like the sun, a new menu called “Light Balance” will appear.
This feature is almost similar to the Brightness setting. The difference is that the Light Balance will not intrusively increase the light like the Brightness setting. Using the Brightness setting you can easily make the photo overexposed if you increase the brightness too much.
While in this new Light Balance feature you can make sure that the photo is not overexposed even if you set the Light Balance quite high like this. You can still make the photo brighter fast with this feature without the need to adjust the highlights and shadows.
So this can be a quick option for those of you who want to brighten the photo a little without overexposing the photo and changing any other settings.
7. Extra Dim Screen – One UI 4.0
Then the seventh feature is the Extra Dim feature. This Extra Dim feature can be useful when you use your phone in a very dark room.
So when you use your phone even in a very dark room, usually when you lower the brightness even to the far left, the screen can still look a little bright, especially in total dark conditions.
So in this latest update, you can activate an additional feature called “Extra Dim”. You can add this feature directly in the notification panel.
You just have to move this icon to the notification panel and later you can directly access the Extra Dim menu from the notification panel.
So the screen will be even darker than before. With this feature you can even increase the intensity to be more extreme become very dark like this.
To make it even darker than the default Extra Dim feature, you can also press and hold on the “Extra Dim” icon, then increase the intensity in this setting.

So this of course can save the smartphone battery a little bit more since the Always-on Display will not be active 24/7, but it will only be on if there are incoming notifications.
This new AOD feature can save more of your smartphone battery because you don’t need to activate the Always on Display constantly. But it still can also become a reminder for a new incoming notification.
